Fire claims truck near Melfort

A close call for a Melfort resident after a fire claimed his truck.

Fire crews were called to the scene of the fire Tuesday morning, just south of Melfort along Highway 6.

The owner of the truck told northeastNOW the fire started shortly after he pulled the truck into his garage, which is attached to his house.

He said the fire was preceded by some smoke coming from the dash and happened after it had work done in the shop.

Thankfully, he was able to drive it out of the garage before damage was done to the structure.

By the time fire crews arrived, the truck was fully engulfed in flames.

There were no injuries.
