Mustangs withdraw point versus Millionaires

Looking to improve on their stance of first overall in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, the Mustangs picked up a point in Melville Saturday.

Coming off a spirited 2-1 win Friday at home against Nipawin, Melfort hit the road and dropped a 5-4 decision to the Millionaires.

Justin Ball had a goal and assist to spur the offence, while Kayle Tosh, Carson Albrecht and Nolan Kadachuk also provided goals for the Mustangs.

Melville’s Cole Thompson scored the game-winner while Reed Gunville served a double minor high sticking penalty that carried over from late in the third period.

Hunter Arps was back in net for the Mustangs, and the Pleasantdale product stopped 27 of 32 shots in the loss.

Melfort sits seven points up on Nipawin for first in the Sher-Wood Division, the Hawks have three games in hand, one of which they will play Sunday when Estevan visits the Centennial Arena at 6:30 p.m.
