Northeast schools smash competition at regionals

A number of girls’ volleyball teams from the northeast region will advance to provincials after a successful weekend at regional playoffs.

Melfort & Unit Comprehensive finished second at the 5A Girls’ North Region tournament held at St. Mary High School in Prince Albert Saturday.  Melfort lost to Carlton in the final, 2-0.

The 4A North Region Girls’ tournament held in La Ronge saw Nipawin’s L.P. Miller finish first, beating Maidstone in straight sets.

Advancing from the 3A Girls West Region are Wakaw and Watrous, who finished first and second, respectively, at the tournament in Wakaw.
