Trojans ready for battle

Dec 5, 2017 | 7:00 AM

The Tisdale Trojans are off to a hot start this season, having won 10 games in a row through the month of October and early November.

The Trojans currently sit third overall in the Saskatchwan Midget AAA league.

Head Coach Darrell Mann told northeastNOW he is very impressed with his team’s work ethic.

“You know our young guys are really been stepping up and playing well and to be sitting in third place, we are pretty excited about that,” Mann said.

When asked about his team’s strengths, Mann said without question it would be the team’s two goaltenders.

“Both Tanner Martin and Roddy Ross giving us an opportunity to win every night, you know those two guys definitely give our players a lot of confidence,” he said.

Mann admits the team is not without its challenges. The Trojans have scored eight goals in their past five games, losing on Saturday to the Swift Curremnt Legionnairtes 5-0.

“You know that’s something we are really focusing on everyday at practice, trying to get guys going to the net and maybe scoring some ugly goals to get our confidence back,” Mann said.

On Wednesday night the Trojans host the Prince Albert Mintos at the Tisdale RECplex.

Mann said his team knows they have a big challenge ahead of them with the Mintos.

“To me they are the hardest working team in the league and we are definitely going to have our hands full,” he said.

The last time the two teams met in early October, the Trojans won the game 4-3.
