Summer rock concert announced for Tisdale

Jan 16, 2018 | 7:00 AM

Children of the ‘70s and ‘80s could be flocking to Tisdale this summer for a major musical event.

The Tisdale and District Chamber of Commerce has announced the lineup for Rockin’ The Square concert this coming July. Nick Gilder and Sweeney Todd will perform along with Glass Tiger and Rick Emmett from Triumph.

Ivan Allan is with the concert’s organizing committee. He is already predicting a good turnout.

“Last year we sold out, so this year I think it’s going to go fast,” he said. “We had never sold out before so people were thinking they could just come and they showed up at the gate, but we had to turn them away.”

Rockin’ The Square is now in its 11th year. The theme of the concert has always been classic rock which Allan admits is not by accident.

“It’s a week before Craven so not a good time to be pulling out county [music] and I am not a country guy,” he said.

Downtown Tisdale will be transformed for the concert on July 6 which Allan said is part of what makes the event so “magical.”

Tickets are $60 and are available through the Tisdale Chamber office.
