UPDATE: Outbreak over at Melfort long-term care facility

UPDATE: The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has lifted a visitor restriction put in place at Melfort’s Parkland Place.

A respiratory outbreak has been declared at Parkland Place in Melfort.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority declared the outbreak Sunday after almost 20 staff and residents showed symptoms of a respiratory illness. Nine residents and another nine staff members experienced symptoms such as coughing, fever and malaise. 

Visits to Parkland Place to see long-term care residents are being restricted until further notice. Visitors of extremely ill residents is the exception.
