Jan 23, 2018 | 1:00 PM

Hudson Bay Conservation Officers have asked for help from the public solving a case which saw a bull elk shot and left to waste.

On Dec. 19, Hudson Bay officers received a tip that an animal was shot and abandoned approximately 11 km west of Bertwell, Sask. on the north side of Highway 23. When conservation officers attended, they discovered a bull elk in an open field. Officers said the elk was first wounded, then a vehicle approached and the elk was shot again before being left to waste at the scene.

According to conservation officers, who collected evidence at the scene, the elk was shot Dec. 19.

Anyone with information on this case was asked to call the province’s toll-free Turn In Poachers (TIP) line, or contact Hudson Bay conservation officers directly.
