Farm equipment and outbuildings consumed by fire in R.M. of Pleasantdale

May 11, 2018 | 12:00 PM

A raging fire that started as a controlled burn spread to several vehicles, farm equipment, and outbuildings on a farm property in the Rural Municipality of Pleasantdale Thursday night.

Firefighters with Melfort Fire and Rescue were called to the scene shortly after 7 p.m. and were later assisted by the Naicam Fire Department.

Although some vehicles and outbuildings were destroyed the firefighters, who were on scene for roughly four hours, were successful in preventing the fire from spreading to a corral and other outbuildings. Weather conditions were quite windy at the time of the fire and property owners were encouraged to use extreme caution before conducting a controlled burn.
