New mayor, councillors acclaimed in Codette
Three new representatives have been acclaimed to represent the Village of Codette following a call for nominations in the community.
Malcolm Haveroen was acclaimed as mayor for the village, while Kyle Kotelko and Lyle Black were acclaimed as councillors. The village was seeking three councillors for the community, and has issued a second call for nominations for the remaining vacant seat. The deadline to file a nomination for the remaining position is June 6.
Haveroen returns to the village as mayor, just a few months after he resigned from the position. Haveroen told northeastNOW he previously spent 15 years as the village’s mayor and is looking forward to getting a fresh start on council. He said the issues that led to his earlier resignation, including a decision to cut the hours for the village’s only maintenance worker, have now been resolved.
Three members of the village council also resigned earlier this year, following the decision to cut the maintenance position from 32 hours to nine, although that decision has now been reversed.
