The Town of Tisdale has welcomed another new doctor, who will start work in the community later this month.

Dr. Mahfuza Rahman will start work in Tisdale June 25, serving residents in Tisdale and the surrounding area. Dr. Rahman comes to Tisdale from Toronto, where she worked for the last six years. According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, she is originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and trained in family medicine at the University of Dhaka, Mymensingh Medical College. Dr. Rahman will be joined in Tisdale by her husband, Md Shamsuddin Ahamd and three children, the health authority said.

Dr. Rahman’s appointment brings the total numbers of doctors in Tisdale to five, a full complement for the community.

The health authority said it is also working to recruit a new physician to Nipawin to replace a doctor who is relocating soon. A new doctor is expected to start work in Melfort at the end of August as well as a replacement for Dr. Alexander Watts, who recently announced his resignation.
