Passenger train derails in eastern Sask., 3 injured

A passenger train traveling from Winnipeg to The Pas, Manitoba derailed early Thursday morning in northeastern Saskatchewan.

Via Rail confirmed the crash occurred in a remote area with no road access 37 kilometres north of Hudson Bay at 3:05 a.m.

Preliminary reports indicate 16 passengers and five crew members were on the train at the time of the derailment.

Two crew members and one passenger are said to have minor injuries.
