Food recall issued over frozen fruit

Jul 16, 2018 | 10:19 AM

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall over a popular brand of frozen fruit sold in local-area stores.

The CFIA has recalled certain lot numbers of Europe’s Best Field Berry Mix and 4-Field Berry Mix due to concerns over salmonella. The federal government organization issued the recall on Friday, saying it was triggered by a recall in another country.

According to a media release, the CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which could lead to a recall of other products. No illnesses have been reported in relation to the recalled fruit, but the CFIA advises they should not be consumed.

The 600-gram bags of Field Berry Mix have been recalled including those with the following codes: 2020MA03, 2020MA04, 2020MA10, 2020MA11 and a UPC of 8 71454 036187. Europe’s Best 4-Field Berry Mix in the two-kilogram bags have also been recalled. Those have a code of 2020MA02 and a UPC of 8 71454 00200 7.
