Valves fixed, but Naicam still under water advisory

Jul 17, 2018 | 2:02 PM

All 10 valves in the Naicam water system have been replaced and everyone has water again. However, residents remain under a water advisory until lab results come back from the Water Security Agency (WSA).

Mayor Rodger Hayward told northeastNOW the town’s water infrastructure was built in the 1950s, and the town is in the second year of a multi-year program to continue upgrades.

“Town council recognizes it’s definitely an inconvenience, especially to the restaurants and the businesses,” Hayward said. “It’s something we have to do. We’re very fortunate to get all the work we wanted to do in one day, so we don’t have to do it again this summer.”

Hayward said Naicam needs to start with the pipes in the ground before they do any work on the streets above.
