Salmonella outbreak reported following public event in Englefeld

Jul 20, 2018 | 4:50 PM

Health officials are warning about an outbreak of Salmonella following a public event in the community of Englefeld, east of Humboldt.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority said 11 people have reported salmonella-like symptoms after eating food at the Englefeld Hogfest June 30. The SHA says 750 meals were served last month at the annual event.

The health authority is asking anyone who may have leftovers from the event, even if they are frozen, to throw the food out immediately to avoid any further illnesses. The SHA is also reminding everyone of the importance of proper handwashing and hygeine when working with food.

Anyone who ate food at Hogfest who has not already been contacted about the event, should get in touch with the Public Health Disease Control office in Saskatchewan.
