Province announces money for airport upgrades
Provincial funding has been announced for airport upgrades in two northeast communities.
Melfort and Tisdale are both set to receive funding from the province for improvements to their airports. The City of Melfort is set to receive $52,478 for rewiring and upgrades to lighting at the Melfort Airport, while Tisdale will get $27,000 from the province for improvements to their runway, including patching and crack sealing.
Funding for the two community airports was announced Friday. The province is funding $700,000 worth of upgrades this year at 12 airports around the province as part of the Community Airport Partnership Program. The program provides cost-sharing grants up to $275,000 to communities to help offset the costs of capital upgrades to infrastructure.
