Survey helping determine future of old Codette school

Nov 29, 2018 | 3:54 PM

The owners of the old Codette school want a new occupant for the building and are asking for the public’s thoughts on what it should become.

A survey in conjunction with Sonship Resources has made its way to the Village of Codette’s Facebook page, which asks residents or businesses from around the area for their input on what should be in the former space.

Bob Labossiere, a resident of Codette and employee with Sonship Resources, told northeastNOW they have ideas on what they want the building to be, such as a mini-mall , but want to get the community’s feel before they decide.

“Do they have any suggestions, ideas, or wishes,” Labossiere said. “It’s not just Codette, there may be some small operations and office requirements from distant people who would like it here.”

Sonship Resources bought the 12,000-square-foot building in 2013, after the school had been turned over to the Village of Codette. The building has since served as Sonship Resources’ home management centre.

Labossiere said the building is still in good condition.

“We had construction, renovations, mechanical work and a number of different things, but things have changed, we get older, and we want to retire,” Labossiere laughed.

Anyone who wants to partake in the survey can find it at the Village of Codette’s Facebook page.
