Rivals Drake Batherson and Trevor Moore lead North to AHL all-star challenge win

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Drake Batherson and Trevor Moore both scored in the shootout to lead the North Division past the Atlantic Division 1-0 on Monday in the final of the American Hockey League’s all-star challenge.

Batherson was named the round-robin tournament’s most valuable player after scoring five times on the night.

Batherson has nine goals and 22 assists in 31 games this season with the Belleville Senators. Batherson had three goals and five assists in 17 games for the Ottawa Senators so far this season.

Moore has 19 goals and eight assists in 34 games for the Toronto Marlies this season. Moore also has a goal and two assists in seven games this season for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the parent club of the Marlies.

His Toronto teammate Calle Rosen added five assists for the North on Monday night.

Mackenzie Blackwood stopped all three shots he faced in the six-minute regulation time and turned aside 3-of-4 skaters in the shootout in net for the North.

Vitek Vanecek turned aside six shots and Michael Dal Colle had a goal in the shootout for the Atlantic Division.
