Winnipeg bus driver fatally stabbed repeatedly asked passenger to leave: Crown

WINNIPEG — Prosecutors say video showing the final moments before a Winnipeg transit bus driver was killed on the job show he asked a passenger to leave more than two dozen times.

Irvine Jubal Fraser, who was 58, was working the late shift in February 2017 when he was stabbed to death after trying to forcibly remove someone from the bus.

Brian Kyle Thomas Thomas, who is 24, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.

Portions of what happened were captured on security cameras in the bus and show the driver pushing off the passenger, who starts to swing punches from outside the door.

Fraser’s death prompted calls for increased safety measures on Winnipeg buses, including safety shields for drivers.
