LOS ANGELES — The black dress that a distraught Marilyn Monroe wore to a 1954 press conference announcing her separation from baseball legend Joe DiMaggio is going up for auction.

KruseGWS Auctions announced Wednesday that the simple wool dress with a zippered turtleneck front will be up for bidding starting March 30. It’s expected to fetch up to $150,000.

Monroe was wearing it in Beverly Hills in October 1954 when she faced a mob of cameras and reporters to announce the split in a marriage that united sports and movies and brought a press frenzy.

Monroe barely spoke at the conference, looking on the verge of tears and nodding to answer one question while letting her representative speak.

Monroe and DiMaggio married in January 1954. Their divorce became final the following year.
