Melfort’s community services department changes

Feb 13, 2019 | 12:27 PM

Melfort’s community services department has undergone some changes.

The department has essentially been split, with a protective services department, and a development, planning and community relations division.

The change was approved at this week’s council meeting.

“The city manager [Ryan Danberg] has surveyed some other communities, and other communities of a similar size operate in this new manner,” Mayor Rick Lang said.

Fire Chief Jason Everitt was named director of protective services, while Brent Lutz is the director of development, planning, and community relations.

Lang said both Everitt and Lutz will be more involved in day-to-day administrative duties.

“You will see both of those people at every council meeting now, and they will be part of the everyday Monday morning administrative meeting,” Lang said. “Every Monday morning, there’s a meeting of administration that involves the senior administration, and they will be part of that meeting.”

Both positions report directly to city manager Ryan Danberg.
