Brett Lauther is sticking around Riderville.

The Roughriders’ 2018 all-star kicker, most outstanding special teams player and most outstanding Canadian signed a contract extension that will keep him in green and white through the 2020 season.

Lauther is an exceptional story in the CFL. He was drafted in 2013, played four games and then spent the next four seasons attempting to crack a CFL roster.

“I think the biggest thing for me was just telling myself that whenever I’ve wanted to do something I got to do it, and this was one of those things I knew I could do and I just wanted to do whatever it took to get here,” he said in June.

Lauther was a big part of the Riders 2018 success. He connected on 54 of 60 field-goal attempts for a 90 per cent success rate, the second-best in franchise history. He also hit a 56-yarder this season which is the club’s seventh-longest successful kick.

The 28-year-old from Truro, N.S. went a perfect 6-for-6 in two games and had another two games connecting on all five field-goal attempts.
