‘Total Relief’: NCHCF finishes fundraising for digital imaging machine

The North Central Health Care Foundation has officially paid off the digital imaging machine in the Melfort Hospital.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Feb. 12, the Foundation announced that they had finally paid the $510,000 bill for the machine. Chair Peggy George said it’s exciting to have it finished.

“Total relief,” George told northeastNOW. “We are just so happy to finally have it done. It drug on it seemed like forever and ever, and we’re just totally thrilled to have it finally paid off.”

George added that there were a few donations in recent months that put them over the top.

“We did a final little plea at Christmas time, and we got some lovely donations that helped us,” she said. “And that $50,000 from the Kinsmen Telemiracle is what really iced the cake and put us over the top, and made that final payment possible.”

Now that the imaging machine is done, George said there are more items to be purchased to improve health care in the area.

“We have already ordered 51 over-bed tables for Parkland Place, and that’s going to cost us about $24,000,” George said. “We’ve also been starting the campaign to raise funds for a new incubator, which costs about $60,000.”

When it comes to fundraisers for the foundation, George said the main fundraiser this year will be the radiothon on 105 CJVR and CK750 in October. George added they will begin making that a main fundraiser every two years (one was also held in 2017). Otherwise, George said small fundraisers will be happening throughout the year.
