Fire at Richardson Pioneer

Grain dryer fire at Richardson Pioneer in Melfort

Melfort fire crews were called to a grain dryer fire at the Richardson Pioneer facility southwest of the city.

Crews responded to the scene just after 10:30 a.m. this morning.

According to Melfort Fire and Rescue, staff at Richardson Pioneer were able to limit the damage due to their quick response.

The fire was extinguished with firefighting foam and water, and crews stood by while facility staff emptied the dryer to allow the material to cool.
