The Town of Tisdale needs a new voice to attract new businesses to town and help existing businesses stay vibrant.

Sean Wallace, the Town of Tisdale’s previous director of economic development, submitted his resignation letter to pursue another endeavor and has finished his last day of work in Tisdale.

Brad Hvidston, Tisdale’s chief administrative office, told northeastNOW a background in economic development is an asset.

“We’ve got a pretty good direction going with our agro value projects that we’ve got on the go,” Hvidston said. “That will definitely be a benefit for somebody coming in to have some knowledge in the ag industry. As soon as we have the partnership with the R.M., a lot of the economic development activities that occur will be both in the town and the R.M.”

Hvidston said it will take a few weeks to accept applications and resumes, then go through them and conduct interviews after. He mentioned the Town of Tisdale doesn’t want to be without a director of economic development for long, but they need to take their and make sure the hire is the best one.

“If it’s somebody who’s employed elsewhere once they’ve made the decision to come here, typically it will take a few more weeks after to give notice to their current employer and make the move here,” he said. “If it’s somebody who may be out of employment right now and looking for a position, that transition may happen a little quicker.”
