St. Patricks Day Party

St. Patricks Day party set for next weekend at Melfort Post Office

Mar 6, 2019 | 5:00 PM

St. Patrick’s Day lands on a Sunday this year, which means many celebrations will be taking place on Saturday March 16.

Thats’s the case for the Melfort Business Revitalization Corporations (MBRC) St. Patrick’s Day Party at the Historic Post Office. MBRC Member Sandra Dancey it’s just one of many events that the group puts on throughout the year.

“We like to do at least one annual event,” Dancey said. “A party, something fun to get the whole community involved that promotes that Melfort is a fun place to be and get some of the local businesses involved, and encourage everyone to support local businesses.”

Dancey added that they have tried to make the event very authentic.

“In true Irish tradition, not that we are all Irish, but some of us like to pretend we are,” she said. “We are going to have a delicious Irish meal from “O’ The Taste”, which is kind of their signature dish which should be amazing. The entertainment is The Lenvale Elevators.”

She added that “yes, there will be green beer” at the event, and there will also be a silent auction.

Dancey said this event is one a way to help the Historic Post Office with some projects, but also to help the MBRC continue promoting Melfort businesses.

“It all goes into the pot and contributes to other events down the road,” Dancey told northeastNOW. “Because we do many things during the summer. So we have the Show and Shine which is coming up in June, and we have the Back Alley Tour in July, and we have Touch a Truck in August. So, the money all contributes to all these other events that go on in Melfort.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased ahead of time at George Home Hardware or the Northern Lights Gallery
