The Logan Boulet Effect has swept across the country.

Boulet was one of 16 people who died in the Humboldt Broncos Bus Crash on April 6 last year, but he was able to donate his organs and save six other lives.

On Monday, April 8, schools in Melfort did their part to raise awareness for organ donation with Green Shirt Day.

At Brunswick Elementary School, Principal Rodney White said the day gives them an opportunity to promote the values they work on at the school.

“Taking a look at it as not only supporting the Humboldt Broncos community, but also the spirit of Logan and his selfless giving,” White told northeastNOW.

At Maude Burke Elementary, the school ordered some of the official green shirt day shirts.

Teacher Tecla Kadachuk said days like this are great to raise awareness.

“I think when a young person like Logan Boulet can lead the charge and make such a huge difference through tragedy,” Kadachuk said. “I think that Sunday and Monday are great days to wear green to support that.”

Sunday, April 7 was the official Green Shirt Day.

“I think all kids know about the accident,” Kadachuk said. “And Logan left a great legacy with his decision. Again, I think it’s good for kids to be aware and to go home and be able to have those conversations with their parents.”
