Sask Party Nominations

Local-area farmer throws name into Sask Party nomination ring

Constituents and Sask Party members in the Carrot River Valley riding will get their choice of who they want representing the Sask Party in the 2020 provincial election.

Nipawin area farmer, Terry Youzwa, has thrown his name in the hat seeking the nomination for that riding. Youzwa said that after representing farmers for over 25 years, it’s time for him to give back and contribute in a different way.

“I’m at a time in my life where this is an opportunity that comes when it comes, you hold up your hand and participate,” Youzwa told northeastNOW. “Life is a journey, you don’t always know where it’s going but it’s hold up your hand an participate. I may have a different state of mind four years from now, so I will take my shot now.”

Youzwa talked about his experience in governance that includes being a Director and/or past Chair for many groups including the Canola Council of Canada, Sask Canola, and Cereals Canada. He was also the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the TSX 300 Company. Youzwa has also been a Councillor in Tobin Lake since 2016.

He said a main topic on his list is continuing to work on Highway 55 and the corridor from Nipawin to The Pas, Man. that has been a topic of conversation in the area for a while now. There was funding announced for the project on Tuesday.

“That’s an example of something that can be done to help improve competitive options,” Youzwa said. “We all need increased competition to ensure we obtain value for our products and services.”

The nomination meeting for the Sask Party in the Carrot River Valley riding is taking place in Arborfield on Thursday, June 20 and Youzwa encourages as many members as possible to attend.

“It’s an opportunity to rebuild the party in this riding and obtain some renewal,” Youzwa said.

Voters go to the polls in October, 2020.
