A variety of summer camps are being offered to kids in the region by the Salvation Army.

Families in the northeast are invited to apply to attend the camps offered at the Salvation Army Beaver Creek.

Captain Rick Robins said the first camp of the summer is music camp in the first week of July.

“We’ve got lots of kids that come there that can’t play an instrument and by the end of the week they’ve got level one theory along with being able to play an instrument,” Robins said.

There are limited spots available to each region so Robins encourages people to get their applications in early. Forms can be filled out at the thrift store in Melfort.

The camps are a great opportunity for those that do attend according to Robins.

“Kids can come and have some great food and fellowship with other kids from around the province,” Robins said. “They play a lot of games and it’s just a whole lot of fun.”

Being able to offer the different camps aimed at kids, moms and kids, and teens is important to the organization.

“We know many times in life that there are not always a stable home and stable place to live so it’s a stable place to go where they know that it is a safe place,” Robins said.

The application deadline for the camps that are open to absolutely anyone is June 4.

Beaver Creek camp is located 15 km south of Saskatoon east of Highway 219.

“It’s just agreat time for kids to get together and learn about Jesus at the same time,” Robins said.
