Networking Night

Melfort Business Revitilization Corporation holds quarterly networking night

May 9, 2019 | 12:04 PM

The Melfort Business Revitalization Corporation (MBRC) held one of its quarterly networking nights on Wednesday, May 8 at the Royal Canadian Legion in the city.

The nights are very casual according to MBRC board member Tara Muntain. There isn’t really a set agenda aside from a few conversation topics. Attendees at the latest meeting discussed the upcoming car show on June 14, and bringing out of towners to local businesses.

“What kind of business representation do we maybe want in Melfort.” Muntain said. “And what goals do we as business owners or managers want to have available for us to utilize.”

A handful of business owners attended. Muntain said no matter the turnout, the nights are a good thing.

“Anytime where people can get together and talk about their ideas is succesful,” Muntain told northeastNOW. “We’ve had 10 people come to a networking meeting, we’ve had 50 people come to a networking meeting. So it ranges on the busyness of everybody.”

With Main Street Melfort no longer running, and the unclear future of the Melfort Chamber of Commerce, Muntain said they are still trying to figure out what role the MBRC can play in the Melfort business community.

“We’re looking at what we’ve accomplished in the past,” she said. “And then perhaps it’s time to mould our guidelines and work toward the future of whatever the business community wants.”

The group is holding another networking night on September 4.
