Communities in Bloom announces community garden project

May 15, 2019 | 2:18 PM

A community garden will be installed at the Spruce Haven recreation area by Communities in Bloom (CIB) this spring.

After many years of wanting to get the project going, there will finally be 30 raised plots available to area residents.

Peggy George with CIB said this is a bonus for their group and the community as a whole.

“We want to be a benefit to the community and for those who have expressed interest in wanting this type of opportunity,” George said. “We are just really happy to be able to put it all together.

A plot map will be made available very soon and early birds will get first dibs. George added they are very excited to offer the garden space to those who otherwise would not have it.

“It is just fun to do things that our other generations used to do an to show our children where food comes from and there is no taste like it,” George said.

Anyone wanting more information or to lay their claim on a plot can call George or send the group a message on Facebook.
