Nipawin Assault Case

Man accused in Nipawin assaults makes first court appearance

May 16, 2019 | 5:06 PM

One of three people accused in three assaults in Nipawin has his show cause hearing scheduled.

Nathaniel Roderick Crate, 24, made his first appearance in Nipawin Provincial Court on Wednesday where his case was adjourned until May 23 in Melfort.

Crate’s charges include theft, robbery with firearm, aggravated assault, assault with weapon, obstructing a peace officer, and possession of a break-in instrument.

The charges stem from an early morning incident in April where police responded to three assaults within Nipawin.

RCMP said two of the assaults took place at the same residence hours apart from one another, while a third incident occurred at a different location. All three are believed to involve the same suspects.

Twenty-eight-year-old Carline Bear and 27-year-old Garrett Scott McCallum are listed as co-accused on the file.

Bear will appear in Tisdale court on May 22 for a bail hearing, while Nipawin RCMP said an arrest warrant is still out for McCallum.
