Nipawin Rotary Club raising funds through fourth colour run

A fun run coming up next weekend in Nipawin will be a little more colourful.

The Rotary Club of Nipawin is hosting it’s fourth annual colour run which is a five-kilometre walk/run that features color stations throughout the track. Participants are blasted with color packets at every kilometer mark.

Rotary President and Committee Chair Pat Chernesky said the funds raised will go toward a new family resource center in Nipawin.

The center will be a big bonus for the community according to Chernesky.

“It will help families access all of the resources they need for their children,” he said.

The club is also applying for a grant through the Rotary Foundation and in partnership with KidsFirst.

Chernesky said that many sponsors have come on board to help cover costs for the event including the color packets, and T-shirts.

Registrations for the event are down a little bit but organizers are optimistic more will come out before the race.

“It is received very, very well with having people from Nipawin, from Tisdale area and Melfort,” Chernesky said. “It’s pretty popular with being family-friendly and something different we didn’t have prior to four years ago.”

Registrations are still being accepted for the run that is open to all fitness levels. Forms can be picked up at the Nipawin Town Office, Peak Fitness, and Harold’s Sporting Goods Store.
