Jun 3, 2019 | 12:07 PM

Road work around Melfort continues this week which includes many road closures in the city.

Crews have begun patching patching the portion of Saskatchewan Drive where excavating took place last week for water-line work.

The work is expected to take five days to complete, resulting in the closure of the intersection of Broadway Avenue. and Saskatchewan Drive, the intersection of Main Street and Saskatchewan Drive, and the 100 block of Main St. and Saskatchewan Drive from Anderson Street to Alberta Street.

Residents on the south side of the city are encouraged to use South Avenue to access the Brunswick Street crossing.

Heavy truck traffic along Sask Dr. will be diverted south onto Highway 41 and Highway 41A or north onto McDonald Avenue via Shadd Drive and Feltts Springs Street.

City crews will also be removing and replacing portions of the curb along Saskatchewan Drive. The curbs along Anderson Street to the rail crossing north of the Canalta Hotel will be replaced later this summer.

A new water line will installed on the 800 block of Main Street beginning today as well, which will see the closure of portions of the 700, 800, and 900 blocks. The work is expected to take one week to complete.

Businesses on the Main Street blocks will be provided with temporary water service during the work.

Director of development, planning and community relations, Brent Lutz, reminded motorists to slow down and watch for detours as the crews are working to make the upgrades around the city.
