St. Brieux woman behind Saskatchewan Sisterhood road trip launches book

The St. Brieux woman who took a seven-week trip around Saskatchewan to highlight and connect women will be taking her story to Melfort with her latest book launch.

Amanda Perrot from St. Brieux started her decal and products company Grounded Goodness with the aim to spread goodness. She has also hosted several Saskatchewan Sisterhood events in numerous communities

“I co-hosted 16 events around the province but I didn’t have one in Melfort so we decided to have one to kind of cap it all off, to bring it all together,” Perrot said.

With Melfort being a second home for Perrot, it is important to have an event in the city that has shown her support over the years.

The book 47 Days: A Journey Back Home is based on the summer road trip around the province and how Perrot moved on from her divorce.

“It’s quite honest and real,” Perrot said.

The book is available on Amazon beginning today (June 5) and there will also be limited copies for purchase at the Melfort Saskatchewan Sisterhood event on June 22.

The event will feature women speakers that Perrot met on her road trip that she referred to as “exceptional women that are willing to share their stories.”

Perrot drove over 5,000 kilometers on her Sisterhood tour and said she found a common theme at each community she was able to visit over the course of the seven weeks on the road.

“Women all around are craving that connection, lots of women feel alone so we are just creating that space for women to come hang out and laugh and let all of their day to day worries go for a few hours,” Perrot said.

The road trip really picked up steam for Perrot where she became a bit of Saskatchewan celebrity, being featured by local media outlets in each area she paid a visit.

“To bring it all back home and to have the book launch in Melfort is beautiful,” Perrot said.

Perrot told northeastNOW she has a couple of smaller events planned over the summer but she will also take some time to enjoy the warm months and just see where the month of June takes her.

“This past year has been incredible in terms of personal growth for me, but also for women around the province and I am so grateful,” Perrot said.
