Memorial Garden to host Canada Day celebrations

Jun 27, 2019 | 11:50 AM

The community of Melfort has Canada Day plans set for a day of family fun.

The celebrations begin at 2 p.m. on Monday. The Memorial Gardens will host the decorated bike parade for kids aged four to 12.

Canada Day Committee Chair, Gail Marie Anderson, said the parade is new this year and then they will have their usual celebration underway.

“We always have a wonderful response from the legion who do a colour parade with the RCMP,” Anderson said.

There will also be greetings brought forward by the mayor as well as the MP and MLA.

Entertainment from Constant Reminder begins at 3 p.m., which will be accompanied by youth activities until 8 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Melfort will host a barbecue supper from 4 to 7 p.m.

The call will be made at 1 p.m. on Friday whether the events will go as planned in Memorial Garden or if they will need to be moved inside for inclement weather.
