Spruce Haven Playground appears to be ready for play but city says otherwise

The Spruce Haven Recreation area playground structure is in but it is not open to the public just yet.

Crews are still actively working in that area according to City Manager Ryan Danberg.

“On Monday, we will have semi’s rolling in there with spray park components so that’s why we are leaving it closed off and deeming it a construction site until that work is done,” Danberg said.

The work on the spray park is expected to be completed before month’s end when both the playground and spray park will officially open.

“We want to open the spray park and the playground at the same time,” Danberg said.

At last update, the anticipated opening time of the two new play areas was set for mid August but progress moved quicker than crews estimated. Patience is still being urged from the public so there are no interferences.

“We aren’t putting up a fence because technically it’s safe to use and it’s done but because it is a construction site we are asking people to not use it right now,” Danberg said.

As soon as the major construction is done and the semi’s have dropped off the components for the skate park, the public will be allowed in.

The city will hold a media day once the new play area is finished in its entirety to inform the public when it is safe to play.
