Tisdale hosting blood donor clinic

Jul 12, 2019 | 5:09 PM

The Tisdale Kinettes have partnered with Canadian Blood services to host a blood donor clinic.

Being able to host a blood donor clinic is a responsibility for the Tisdale Kinettes, as committee member Stacie McEwen said they’ve been the sponsoring group in Tisdale for just over a year.

“The Canadian Blood Services goes to communities to put on clinics, but they like to have a service group in the area to help them host,” McEwen told northeastNOW.

Blood Services Canada stated on their website that a timely blood transfusion can be a lifesaving difference for cancer patients, transplant recipients, or accident victims.

The blood donor clinic will take place at the RECplex Auditorium on Monday, July 15 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

While potential donors can book an appointment on Canadian Blood Services’ website, McEwen said walk-ins are still welcome.

“If you don’t have an appointment, please come anyway,” she said. “It’s a very important cause and we’re hoping to get a lot of people to come.”

Potential donors need to be at least 17 years old. Men who haven’t donated blood in 56 days and women who haven’t donated in 84 days are eligible to donate.
