Ducks Unlimited hosting event to recruit volunteers

Jul 17, 2019 | 2:00 PM

A day of information and presentations is being hosted by Porcupine Plain Ducks Unlimited as the organization looks to recruit volunteers.

This Friday at the Greenwater Lake Hall, three different seminars will aim to bring awareness to the importance of getting involved.

“You’re giving back to supporting a healthy environment and wildlife habitat,” Manager of Events and Volunteer Relations, Travis Behning said. “Not just for ducks and geese but for all wildlife.”

The main target of the organization is to ensure water on the landscape is clean and safe to drink.

The Porcupine Plain banquet is a big fundraising event in need of volunteers to help plan and sell tickets.

Anyone can sign up as a volunteer, according to Behning.

“People who are involved with the community, who are conservation minded, outdoors men, enjoy going to the lake, and appreciate clean water,” Behning said.

Friday’s event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include a free barbecue lunch. There will be kids activities as well.

“Everyone can appreciate turning on the tap and having clean drinking water, but we’re also looking for help who want to help out in the community,” Behning said.
