Volunteer Opportunities in the PA Region of Sask Health Authority

The following are Volunteer Service Opportunities in Prince Albert and area for the week of July 22, 2019

The Volunteer Services Department is in need of caring, compassionate and committed volunteers to fill the following service positions:

Emergency Department Volunteer Navigator – Victoria Hospital

Volunteers provide navigational assistance to families/visitors of patients in the Emergency Department. Evening shifts available for those who work during the day.

Shifts:9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. – 6:00p.m. Monday – Sunday: Once or twice per week.

Information Desk Navigator (Greeter) – 1521 Building

Duties include directing clients and the public to the various departments for appointments, or to other destinations within the 1521 Building.

Shifts: Monday – 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Tuesday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Patient Information (Greeter) – Victoria Hospital

Duties include directing patients and visitors to the various departments for treatments, tests, x-rays, or to other destinations in the hospital.

Shifts: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Monday – Friday

Green Thumb Gardening Program

Duties include caring for the gardens at Herb Bassett Home. Adopting and beautifying the garden area for the residents to enjoy.

Shifts: Friday – Monday – Flexible time

Parent-Tot/Family Volunteering Program – Birchview Home, Birch Hills (306) 749-3488

Parents and their children visit residents on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Parents are responsible for their children at all times.

Shifts: Flexible, once or twice per week.

Pet Therapy – Jubilee Lodge, Kinistino (306) 864-2851

Volunteers with well-trained, friendly pets may visit the residents at the Nursing Homes. The pets must meet the necessary requirements prior to visiting.

Shifts: Once or twice per week: Flexible hours.

Pet Therapy – Parkland Integrated Health Centre (306) 747-6841

Volunteers with well-trained, friendly pets may visit the residents at the Nursing Homes. The pets must meet the necessary requirements prior to visiting.

Shifts: Once or twice per week: Flexible hours.

Volunteer “Friends” – Wheatland Lodge, Leask (306) 466-4949

Volunteers are matched with a patient/resident, and become their personal friend. Volunteers might write letters, play cards, read, perform small favors, take their friend shopping, for coffee in or out of the hospital, and recognize birthdays, Christmas, & special occasions.

Shifts: Flexible, once or twice per week.

Activity Programs – Big River Health Centre (306) 469-2220

Volunteers will assist the staff with activities and set up for such. Depending on the needs of the facility, duties may include assisting with crafts, shopping trips, birthday parties, special functions, music therapy, exercise programs, bowling groups, horticulture, painting, baking, etc.

Shifts: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Monday – Friday
