Pineland Co-op opens Crop Inputs Site

Jul 24, 2019 | 12:12 PM

Nearly five years of planning and construction came to fruition for Pineland Co-op in Nipawin.

The 11,000 square foot Crop Inputs Site is part of the Pineland Co-op Agro Centre on Highway 35 south of Nipawin and is used to store and sell chemicals and seeds.

Tim Keller, Pineland Co-op general manager, said the project cost nearly $4 million to complete.

“We’ve seen the need in the community for investment for the long-term,” Keller said. “Pineland Co-op has been in the community for 90 years already and we want to be here for 90 more. If you want to do that, you have to invest.

“It brings the chemical storage to one site, right close to our fertilizer plant as well, so producers have more of a one stop place to come and talk to their agronomists and sales reps. It’s a location where we can bring producers in, do training, development, and information sessions for them as well.”

The Crop Inputs Site’s opening is part of a busy 2019 for Pineland Co-op, which has already upgraded its Card Lock in the spring, begun renovations of its Home Centre, and plans to upgrade the food store in the future.

Keller said there are still plans to grow the Agro Centre site by expanding its fertilizer storage facilities and potentially opening a maintenance shop for its trucks and floaters.
