Residents in the town of Nipawin can get some of their work around the yard and home done by volunteers next weekend.

Emmanuel Baptist Church, Nipawin Bible College, and the town are collaborating once again for their outpour weekend on Sept. 20 and 21.

Organizer Jason Elford told northeastNOW they’d like to reach out and help the community.

“Seniors, or disabled, or just people in need of a helping hand,” Elford said. “It’s just a way to make our community feel served and cared for.”

Members of the group will split up and help with tasks including fall clean up, small maintenance jobs, or moving stuff.

Elford organized this ‘outpour weekend’ for the past five years and said that they typically are able to serve around 25 homes each fall.

The mission of outpour weekend is “promoting good community and care for Nipawin residents through serving our seniors, shut-ins, and those in need of a helping hand.”

“In future years I would love to get more support from other churches in town and go that route,” Elford said. “It’s really about getting the word out about it to more residents that might need help first.”

Request forms can can be filled out at the town office before this Monday, Sept. 16.

“I’m sure there is more need out there, and there are people willing to serve and help,” he said.
