Humboldt District Hospital Foundation set for busy fundraising season

Oct 21, 2019 | 12:14 PM

Fundraising season for the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation’s (HDHF) is getting warmed up.

The HDHF recently received a $11,000 donation from Humboldt’s Tim Hortons as part of Smile Cookie Week, although foundation organizers have more fundraisers in mind.

A lottery draw, 50/50 tickets, and a Christmas Angels campaign in December are all part of busy autumn and winter months for the HDHF.

Lorrie Bunko, executive director of the HDHF, calculated that they have raised over $400,000 for new equipment at the Humboldt District Hospital since April 2019.

“That is strictly all from the generosity of donors, event supporters, and legacy giving,” she said. “We don’t receive grants, tax dollars, or government funding, and that’s pretty amazing.”

However, one annual fundraiser was cancelled.

The Ghost and Goblin Walk or Run – a nine or 18-hole walk or run where the public can dress up in their Halloween costumes – was set to take place on Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Humboldt Golf Club.

Bunko said the HDHF has a list of needs for the Humboldt District Hospital going forward, although she and the rest of the foundation will have a better idea of what their 2020 wish list will look like in November.
