The house concert series is coming back to Melfort with a new twist.

Six concerts will be coming to the Melfort Historic Post Office with each featuring a different artist.

Brent and Tammy Lutz will host the first concert tonight to kick-off the series.

The events are traditionally hosted in homes but the post office atmosphere allows for a more public setting.

“The idea is that you are able to meet with friends, neighbours, acquaintances that you don’t often get to visit with,” Brent said.

Between 20 to 40 people are expected to be in attendance, which gives it a more intimate setting and also gives the opportunity to speak with the artists that are performing.

The kick-off night will have music by Guillaume Jabbour and Bill Gossage from Quebec.

Tammy said they are looking for other hosts for the next five concerts that will be happening throughout the winter.

“I encourage anyone interested in hosting to attend and take a look at how it’s all set up and see what’s expected of them and I would be happy to walk them through it,” she said.

The hosts provide refreshments and snacks for the event and also set up for their concert.

Tickets can be purchased at the Kerry Vickar Centre box office, the museum or at City Hall.
