Carrot River Valley’s MLA is seeking re-election in 2020

Nov 4, 2019 | 4:55 PM

The three-time MLA for Carrot River Valley hopes to make it four straight election victories in 2020.

Fred Bradshaw won a contested nomination meeting earlier this year, and said he is eager to carry the Saskatchewan Party colours into next fall’s provincial election.

“I’ve been in [the legislature for] 12 years, and I think with my experience I can still help out with the government,” Bradshaw said.

The MLA told northeastNOW that issues as 2020 approaches include the federal carbon tax, other farming challenges, and lower lumber prices.

However, Bradshaw said that generally, most people in the riding seem pleased with the SaskParty government.

“Highway 55 [the bridge replacement near Nipawin], having that announcement was very good, and also the highway going up to Tobin Lake was another one that was a good announcement, and a good fix for our constituency,” he said.

There is one local project that Bradshaw would like to see approved in the provincial budget this spring.

“We have a tough budget coming up, [and] we said we’re going to have a balanced budget by this spring, but I’m hoping there’s enough money that we can announce a [new] school for Carrot River,” he said. He said the current school in Carrot River desperately needs to be replaced.

Bradshaw said he has enjoyed his time as an MLA for Carrot River Valley.

“I’ve always felt that northeast Saskatchewan is the best place in all of Canada to live, and I just want to see it grow and prosper,” he said.

The provincial election will be held Nov. 2, 2020.
