Charges laid, following gun-related incident in Birch Hills

A 29-year-old man has been charged with assault in connection to a tense situation in Birch Hills last week in which the local school was temporarily placed on alert.

Early Friday morning, police responded to a domestic violence incident at a home in the community, and told a man may be walking around, carrying a gun.

Michael Marrion was arrested roughly seven and a half hours hours later. Police later retrieved a gun stashed in a wooded area the following day.

When initial attempts by police to locate the man on Friday morning failed, the local school was notified and a ‘hold-and-secure’ procedure was initiated but was only in place for roughly 20 minutes as the suspect was found. At no time was the school ever directly threatened.
