A Great Escape

Melfort Public Library hosting escape room event this week

Nov 12, 2019 | 3:22 PM

The Melfort Public Library could be the site of a great escape this week.

The library is hosting an escape room event, starting on Wednesday, Nov. 13. and ending on Friday.

About six groups of between two to six people will get a chance to participate in the second running of the event. Head Librarian Penny Markland said after it was a success a year ago, they wanted to bring it back.

“They get 45 minutes to solve six puzzles and get out,” Markland said.

With escape rooms being very popular now, Markland said this allows them to bring a popular event to the community at a much cheaper price and give the chance for more people to participate.

“The library is a much different place than people used to think of it, maybe 40 years ago,” she said. “We do all kinds of community events, for kids up to adults.”

Markland added unfortunately they are already full for participants for this year, but they hope to maybe bring it back again at some point.

To accomodate the setup, and the escape room event itself, the library will close early on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, returning to normal hours on Saturday, Nov. 16.
