Second annual Children’s Toy Bingo taking place in Melfort on Saturday

Dec 6, 2019 | 2:00 PM

The Melfort Elks second annual Children’s Toy Bingo is this Saturday.

After great success in their first year in 2018, the Elks decided they wanted to bring it back again, according to John Barks with the Elks.

“The kids come and play bingo,” he said. “50 cents a card per game, and if they get bingo, they get to pick any toy they want off the table.”

Businesses from the Melfort area have donated a variety of toys for the children to pick from.

Barks said they were approached last year with the idea of the toy bingo and felt it was something different for the area. And an opportunity for the kids to be able to do something rather than parents coming to play bingo and winning turkeys and other prizes.

All the money raised at the event goes back into the youth in the community. Melfort Youth Evolution will be running the concession.

“Bring the kids down, and have a good time,” Barks told northeastNOW. “It was a lot of fun last year, and I think it’s even going to be better this year.”

The event takes place at the Elks hall in Melfort and doors open at 12:30 p.m.. Bingo begins at 1 p.m. and runs until 4 p.m.
