Dec 9, 2019 | 8:27 AM

Traffic was being re-routed as emergency crews were on scene of a train derailment on highway 16 Monday morning between Guernsey and Plunkett.

In a release, Humboldt RCMP said that the highway between the two communities was closed and traffic would be detoured south of Plunkett to Highway 365 towards Watrous, then north along highway 668 to Guernsey.

The Canadian Pacific rail train was hauling crude oil when it jumped the tracks at around midnight.

It is not yet known how many cars were involved but CP has said that there were no injuries. There is no impact on any homes or waterways in the area.
