Progress continues at the new Habitat for Humanity build in Melfort.

The 1,000 square-foot three-bedroom bungalow is being built at 404 Burrows Ave. W.

Project manager Terry Thurrott told northeastNOW things are going well.

“The house is to the lock up stage right now, the electrical and plumbing is undergoing right now, and we’re looking at insulation here right away,” Thurrott said. “It’s progressing very well, and it’s going to be a beautiful house when it’s done.”

The house is expected to be complete in spring of 2020, though an exact date is tough to pin down.

“With this being a Habitat house we’re looking for volunteers to help us proceed,” Thurrott said.

The home, which will have vinyl siding on the outside, will feature all new, modern amenities on the inside as well. Walls are up, shingles are installed, and the basement is built.

“It’s a pressure wood foundation basement, which is in my opinion the best basement to go with in this part of the country,” he said.

The relatively mild winter has helped speed the build along.

“The weather has been in our favour,” Thurrott said. He added the contractors that have helped out have also been tremendous.

Anyone who would like to volunteer to help with the project can contact Thurrott at 1-306-920-7997.
