MTA Meets

Melfort Trade Alliance looking to continue momentum in new year

Jan 22, 2020 | 4:00 PM

The Melfort Trade Alliance (MTA) has held their first meeting of 2020.

The organization is still gaining traction after some major changes in 2019, including a name change from the Melfort Business Revitalization Corporation. Much of the organization’s board was also turned over last year, with Tyler Fahlman named chairperson.

Treasurer and promotions Co-Chair Tara Muntain told northeastNOW the meeting on Tuesday was a way to get the members together to recap what was a busy year, and look ahead to what 2020 has to offer.

“It was a really good night just to organize our committees, get our feet wet and back on the ground for the new year,” Muntain said.

She said the organization works because of a shared love of the community.

“Everybody that is on the board wants Melfort to succeed and wants business to succeed in our city,” Muntain said. “We’re passionate about it, and that makes everything flow well together.”

The MTA is holding another networking night on Feb. 11 at the Melfort Legion lounge, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event is “for all business owners [and] managers, just to come and go, a great time to talk to peers and talk about things that are coming up,” Muntain said.

The Melfort Trade Alliance is also hosting the inaugural Mardi Gras on Main Feb. 29 at the Historic Post Office.

Tickets for that event are $55 each, and can be purchased at George Home Hardware and Northern Lights Gallery.

Muntain said the Melfort Trade Alliance continues to evolve as they discuss what their goal is, and what businesses want of them going forward.
